amazing flatform sandals from ASOS, the wedge is identical in shape to my creepers, so I figured they were perfect. the transparent plastic looks so alien on skin, very high fashion! the beach will be our catwalk, wurk it.

Today’s outfit! The women in the family went out for my mum’s birthday lunch today, a relished excuse to glam up. I’ve wanted to do an all white outfit forever, the only thing missing was a bright white zip up coat, *sigh*.

February Shop! (and an outburst of fashion adoration)

Rucksack: Urban Outfitters
I’ve been seeing backpacks/rucksacks a lot recently, usually hung cooly off of one shoulder, but in my case I’m gonna wear it with both arm straps on, cos I’ve got a dodgy back and a rucksack is better for that than a heavy handbag any day. Curing my hunchback with fashion, cute.

Striped Denim Pants: River Island
Stripes can be tricky to get right, as they can easily distort your leg shape to look shorter or wider (avoid horizontals particularly), but these don’t do any of that. I think it’s because they’re a 7/8 length which exposes and elongates the ankle, increasing any lady’s elegance. On top of that, the waistline doesn’t sit on the hips but 2 or 3 inches above, also stretching out the legs.

Green Bikini: H&M
I know it’s still winter! But all I could think of when I saw it was how stunning the lime will look against a tan. White and fluorescents are the ultimate tan enhancers. Anything strapless I love because there is nothing more beautiful or feminine than a bare neck and shoulders. The high-legged bottoms will really show off a girl’s hips, which scares me, but I’m fed up with wishing my curves didn’t exist. I hope every curve or non-curve you girls own graces the world’s beaches this summer.

Black and Cream Tropical Hot Pants: Topshop
Quite a risky purchase, because although they’re high-waisted, they’re also incredibly short and finish right on my extremely low & wide hips, emphasising that area even more. Again, not something I’m usually okay with - unless I’ve got platform heels and a bust-boosting garment on to balance things out. These hot pants will be saved for the few days of my entire life when this kind of outfit is appropriate.

White Sequin Crop Top: River Island
I love paillette sequins, and the small ones on this top are so perfectly sewn on, in comparison to the uneven stitching and odd bald patch that characterises most paillette sequined clothing. The top is cropped at the perfect length for raising your waist = longer figure. Just covering your belly button will make your proportion more leg and less torso, whilst a tight fit up top and looser bottom will emphasise your bust.

Leopard Print Skater Dress: Primark
I got this a size down from my usual so that it would be shorter and have a higher waist. The tight top half emphasises the bust, whilst a floaty, high-waisted skirt creates an abyss for your legs to just keep on disappearing into. Such a deliciously feminine combo.

Multi-coloured Stack of Rings: H&M
I cut these off of the packaging before deciding I didn’t like them very much. Two of them are alright, the rest I might try to spray paint or something. I don’t understand why I bought them, but it was obviously a good idea at the time.

Once I started paying attention to and complimenting my natural shape and colourings, rather than trying to pull off what I “should” be wearing, so much changed for me. I’m proud of parts of me that I wasn’t proud of before, because I’ve started framing those parts correctly instead of hiding them away. I now know that understanding the palette and architecture of fashion is essential if you want to find the best clothes for you. I really hope that this clothing commentary was worth doing, and I’m going to continue with them because I feel so strongly about people understanding fashion, and therefore learning that absolutely everybody can be part of it. Stick thin, straight down models are used on the catwalk because, although still so beautiful, they are the blankest of canvases with no buxom babeness to have to work around - designers need their clothes to be owning the models, not the models owning the clothes. Off of the runway and back in reality, fashion should accentuate and scream with joy about who you are.

NASTY GAL HAUL

FINALLY, the clothes I ordered almost 3 weeks ago arrived from the USA. I had paid extra P&P because it was an overseas parcel, which I was fine with - but I had no idea that when it arrives at the Post Office, you have to pay extra “handling costs”. Mine all together was £39. Not. Funny. So I warn you guys, if like me you’re not savvy to the Royal Mail’s ways, be careful what you order. Jess didn’t have to pay such a fee when she ordered shoes from the USA, so I don’t know exact rules, but anyway..

After crying a bit about the £39, I opened the parcel and taadaah, beautiful clothes. I’m really happy with them, but won’t be ordering from NastyGal again! I’ve deleted the site from my bookmarks just to be doubly sure I don’t give in to temptation. ASOS and eBay will do me for now.
