My mum had some money left on her Selfridges voucher, and the Body Shop had a 3 for 2 offer on make-up, so I got really lucky today!
I’ve been looking for a matt primer for a while, but whenever I’ve tried them out, they’ve been too creamy for me or eventually leave my skin oily. The Body Shop however, has created this amazing matt primer GEL, which is neither of those things. It goes onto skin like a dream and leaves it so blurred, matted and silk soft, there’s no need for a lot of cover-up afterwards.
Second find was by a company that I’ve never heard of before called Illamasqua. The make-up artist at Selfridges told me they’re a british company who aim to create seriously pigmented make-up in a load of impressive colours. Their slogan is “Make up for your alter ego.” I am so excited about this blusher. It’s in a purply fuchsia shade which is great for me who needs blue tones in my blushers and lips. I was thinking of doing a colour chart of the best shades for each skin tone!, would anyone be interested? Exotic colours are scary and often the excuse is “bright make up just doesn’t suit me”, but it suits anyone as long as you get the right shade for you. Red lips for example - there are pink reds, blue reds, orange reds etc. Anyone can do red lips and so on! Anyway. This blusher stays put for ages, and you don’t need a lot on the brush because the pigmentation is so beautifully high! I am Illamasqua’s newest fan. Check out their website here.

had my nails done yesterday with the gorgeous Jess, varnish colour is ‘sand tropez’ by Essie. it’s taken me about 20 minutes to write this post cos Jamie Oliver’s show is on in the background and I can’t stop watching, he is so good oh my god.
16/02/2012I’ve spent all day watching makeup tutorials (the life on an english student) and got inspired. iwanted2c1video is one of the greatest people on youtube, she is absolutely hilarious and her tutorials are brilliant at the same time.
So I’m all dressed up with nowhere to go! Or well I could maybe go out but tickets are sold out for a Ministry of Sound night at the student union - why do I always forget stuff like ‘you need to actually buy a ticket’.. might have to find one floating around facebook, hmph.
Anyways, I hope you all have an awesome Friday :) xxx

A week or so ago, I was lucky enough to stumble across this literally ‘miraculous’ hair product by Lee Stafford. My hair is still, after two years, recovering from serious bleaching. Even with deep conditioning and no application of heat, it both frizzed up and looked lifeless once it had dried - and the more I brushed it, the worse it got! As for the magical blow dry I get at the hairdressers, I’ll never kid myself that I’ll ever be able to do that at home.
So, during a beauty buying spree in Boots with Jess, as we searched the hair-related aisles for this blow-dry in a bottle, I was won over by the ‘ARGANOIL’ logo, and I’m so pleased now that I fell so shamelessly for the brand advertising! This hair oil is fantastic. It keeps stray hairs and frizz down, without making the hair heavy or appear greasy. Although it doesn’t cure split-ends (because let’s face it, nothing does except for a good ol’ haircut), the oil does smooth the split-ends away and creates the illusion that they’ve vanished. I’ve also found that, after using the oil quite a few times, my hair generally feels and looks healthier, even after washes. An application for me is simply one pea-sized dollop in my hand, so for £11.99, this product is worth it’s price. And it smells really, seriously yummy. Buy it here.

I recently tried creating my dream hair colour, dark electric blue, and had researched possible ways for ages. I get my hair dyed blue-black anyway, but it’s never blue enough for me! So to really make my black hair shine blue in the light, I tried tinting it with Manic Panic’s Shocking Blue Amplified hair colour. The internet said it would work, but it failed miserably! I don’t have any photo evidence because there was nothing to show. My scalp went bright blue but my hair didn’t, it was so disappointing because I had left it in all day with cling film wrapped around my head like a freak. My friend Holly said that the cling film may have stopped it from reacting and actually dying my hair? I’m hoping she’s right, I can try it again, and it will work this time. What do you guys think, have you used Manic Panic before? At the moment, I’m thinking that this dye is for porous, bleached hair only - so it would have worked for me a year ago. Why didn’t I take the opportunity then?.. sigh.
